Jennette McCurdy, star of Nickelodeon’s iCarly, chills out with KB!
Jennette McCurdy, Sam from Nickelodeon’s hit TV show iCarly, is an extra-ordinary talent! Jennette acts, sings, dances, writes songs, ice-skates, and does so much more–all amazingly! While balancing all of her life’s passions, she is committed to living a healthy lifestyle. Even though her schedule is very busy and she travels regularly, one of Jennette’s priorities is to make healthy choices wherever she goes. In our conversation below, Jennette explains that her Mom has set a great example for her healthy lifestyle and that getting involved in a sport is an awesome way to overcome monotony in any exercise routine! 1. What inspired you to make your health a priority?
My mom’s always been a very healthy eater, so my eating healthy is definitely one of those like-mother-like-daughter situations.
2. How did you do it; do you follow a specific program?
I write down what I eat so that I can calculate nutritional value at the end of the day. By writing down what I eat, I find myself more apt to make good choices.
3. Do you incorporate fitness into your schedule?
Yes! Exercise never ceases to make me feel clear-headed, strong, and positive.
4. Do you have more energy now that you have adopted a healthier lifestyle?
I’ve always done some form of physical activity, whether that be dancing, karate, figure skating, ice hockey, ice dancing, or just plain running, and I’ve always felt great! When I stray from a healthy lifestyle for even a week or two, I immediately feel less invigorated, enthusiastic, and optimistic. Because of this, I’ve learned to stay on track and not slack!
5. What is your favorite treat/snack?
I have an apple a day – apples are definitely my favorite!
6. What do you like to do to stay active?
I love figure skating and ice dancing whenever I can find an ice rink. I like to bring my skates when I travel! If I’m at a hotel somewhere and don’t have access to an ice rink, though, I’ll just work out at the gym for a while.
7. Do you have a friend or family member that helps you stay on track or support you?
My mom’s awesome. She sets such a great example for a healthy lifestyle – exercise and healthy eating!
8. What would be your #1 suggestion to anyone trying to become healthier.
Get involved in a sport. You won’t feel like you’re doing some monotonous exercise routine because every day will bring a new and exciting challenge to overcome! As for healthy eating, just take it day by day, choice by choice.
